The Royal Hotel Tain

Pros: Nice clean spacious room and a good breakfast. Staff extremely helpful.

Cons: Hotel is a bit dated but can see owners are trying to update it.

Old building, but incredible staff and lots of holiday character.

Pros: The front staff were exceptional. They remembered my name and were always attentive to my needs. Better service than I have in 5 star hotels. It was also decorated very nicely for Christmas - it looked dreamy.

Cons: The wifi in my particular room as essentially unusable. The building is gorgeous, but could use a little remodeling.

Pros: I arrived late in the evening so I missed the dinner service, the menu looked appealing for all tastes. I only encountered the night staff as I had an early check out. The person was so welcoming as though I was family, extremely attentive. The building on the inside could be seen as dated and needing a spruce, However I think it adds to the charm. My room was great. Everything you would expect for a comfy night sleep. I am definitely going back if I visit Tain again and hopefully meet the proprietor!

Good hotel with wonderful staff

Pros: The hotel is well situated in centre of Tain. The car park next door has plenty of spaces and is free. From the night staff through to the cleaners everyone was so friendly. The room was immaculate. It smelt lovely. The tea tray plentiful. I never had breakfast but the smell was divine and so tempting. I liked they allowed plenty of time so it was suitable for workers and holiday makers. The restaurant was really nice

Cons: The carpet was stained although clean. I am basically clutching at straws as with such friendly staff and so well proportioned room it is hard to find any real faults

Overnight stay for work

Pros: Plenty of car parking , staff very friendly and helpfull , room very clean , great shower and superb breakfast

Cons: Can't find anything to seriously complain about

Pros: The traditional Highland hotel atmosphere has been tastefully retained. The location is perfect, a short walk from the Railway Station, local golf course, and lovey shore walks.

Cons: Nothing not to like. Not by any means five star, but very comfortable, with spotlessly clean linen and towels and very comfy beds. And if, like me, you enjoy a full Scottish breakfast, you will be very impressed with the wonderful plateful provided by the Royal, all included with their very modest room rates.

Pros: We had a magnificent 4poster bed on a huge room it was fantastic xxx

Cons: The hotel is very old (which I normally like) and a little tired and needs some investment

Unexpected night away -fantastic find

Pros: The staff were so welcome and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great sleep, and we had a large cooked breakfast. The building is lovely with so many original features.
