Dornoch Castle Hotel

A 500-year-old converted Scottish castle, this hotel is set in the centre of Durnoch, opposite a 13th-century cathedral. It boasts period features throughout the property, as well as fine dining and quiet walled gardens. Bright rooms all have a TV, tea/coffee and a private bathroom, whilst some also include a seating area and a four-poster bed. Many rooms have views of the hotel’s walled garden, Dornoch Firth or Dornoch Cathedral. The award-winning Garden Restaurant has original 15th-century stone walls and wooden floors. It offers traditional Scottish dishes using local produce including local seafood, Aberdeen Angus beef and Highland venison. Dornoch Castle Hotel is a 15-minute walk from the seashore and 10 minutes’ walk away is Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Pubs and restaurants are just a few minutes’ walk. We allow dogs in our ground floor Garden Standard Rooms. Please advise the hotel after booking if you are bringing your dog. We charge a £15 supplement per dog, per night. We do not allow dogs in our upper floor Garden Standard Rooms or Castle Rooms.

Perfect

Great historic hotel.

Pros: Beautiful old building with atmospheric bar. The drams left in my room from the distillery in the garden was a very welcome benefit.

Cons: My only negative was the window in my room did not open (sealed by paint) so room got a bit hot for my taste.

A warm and friendly Hotel, with good food and a great Whisky collecton.

Pros: Very helpful and pleasant staff. Went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. Very good pizzas, and a fabulous Whisky collection.

Cons: Not the biggest rooms, but they were comfortable and clean.

Fantastic staff and location. A little tired in some regards

Pros: Lovely helpful and friendly staff. Great location. This is a castle so its old and the rooms and facilities are old fashioned - depends what you want from a hotel. Feels a little tired in places given the price. Absolutely nothing wrong with it however.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Cozy rooms. Located in quaint, little town. It's a castle! Breakfast was included and had a lot of options (fruit, bacon, eggs, pastry, cereal)

Cons: Was expecting a more \

On the whole a great night away without the kids!

Pros: Friendly staff, great food. Fantastic selection of whiskey!

Cons: In the new part so quite noisy, could hear next doors dogs barking and people walking around. Not 100% clean, some crisps left on a chair. Didn’t realise that there was bacon \u0026 eggs till we’d filled our plate with cold meats and cheese, menu stated continental only.
