Caledonian Hotel 'A Bespoke Hotel’

The Caledonian Hotel overlooks Ullapool harbour and the colourful fishing boats on Loch Broom. The hotel is located in the centre of Ullapool and a short 3 minute walk from the ferry terminal to Stornoway. Free parking is available to the rear of the hotel and WiFi is available at the property. Built early 1900s, the Caledonian is one of the oldest hotels in Ullapool. Ullapool is the port for the Outer Hebrides and therefore good roads allow easy access to this spectacular highland location. Pros: Good location, rooms for solo traveler adequate although small

Cons: The receptionist refused to check me in as it was 2 hours before 4 pm. Found out later, she was going home and was feeling tired The hotel has an open plan set up with a coffee shop and a Bistro bar. I had my border collie and although hotel and Bistro is dog friendly, breakfast restauarant and Coffee cafe ARE NOT. Cafe staff literally sprinted to shoo me out of cafe. It would be useful if they displayed no dog allowed signs. Not sure what the issue is in cafe that is literally open plan with rest of hotel. There is no law to prevent dogs in cafes, upto owner, but if your owned by hotel just have one ruke throughout

Great atmosphere and staff always enjoy our stay here

Pros: We stay in the Caledonian a few times a year on the way over to the isle of lewis. Its great after a long journey up north, the bar restaurant always serves great food and the breakfast is high quality. The staff are always helpful.

Pros: Great location \u0026 free cancellation if needed. I've also eaten in the bistro on a previous visit which was very nice I'd definitely stay again

Pros: Great for an overnight stay before the ferry in a perfect location for popping out to dinner. Rooms were lovely and warm.

Hotel of choice in Ullapool.

Pros: Really nice friendly hotel right in the centre of Ullapool. We booked a superior room which provided a free minibar. Food in the restaurant was excellent as was the free parking, bar and coffee lounge. Very dog friendly too. Will stay here again without doubt.

Cons: Breakfast was great but a menu should be provided to minimise the waste of surplus items. Other than tat, a great hotel.

Ullapool we know from old and sadly on this occasion our visit was for a dear friends funeral.

Pros: Breakfast was epic. Location could not be better in Ullapool but would guess the car park would be overflowing in high season. Staff are all tops, from reception throughout.

Cons: Only option at time of booking were single beds and coming from a superking nearly fell out once as they were tiny but they were comfortable. Evening meal food we had was an OK burger but daughters Macaroni Cheese she returned as sauce split, grainy and funny taste( probably frozen at some stage) but waiter removed from our bill.

Doggy friendly good value for money.

Pros: After a long rainy, chilly drive with my wee dog we had a warm welcome at the Caledonian. Staff were lovely, especially to Mabel, my dog so especiallydoggie friendly. Room was spacious, clean and the bed was exceptionally comfy. I had Seabass in the restaurant then apple strudel and both were delicious. The hotel is perfectly placed for seeing Ullapool but also just around the corner from the ferry terminal. It's also really good value for money.

Beautiful hotel, comfy rooms, friendly \u0026 helpful staff and great location for using the ferry!

Pros: Customer Service was very good. We arrived late, a large group, and our ferry for the next day had been cancelled. The lady on reception gave lots of advice and was super helpful

Cons: Bathroom had a few things that looked like they needed fixing in it.
