The Rowan Tree Country Hotel

Built in the 1700s, the Rowan Tree Country Hotel now offers elegant rooms, many with views of the mountains, Cairngorm National Park or Loch Alvie. Traditional Scottish breakfasts are available. The hotel has a lounge and bar, both with log fires in winter. The bar has a selection of local gins and whiskeys. The restaurant serves Scottish dishes, many using local ingredients and offers cooked breakfasts including porridge with whisky. Meals need to be booked prior to arrival to avoid disappointment. The hotel has been expanded and modernised but retains many original features including open fires, stained-glass leaded windows and beamed ceilings. All rooms have TVs, WiFi, Egyptian cotton sheets and en-suite bathrooms. In the Cairngorm National Park, The Rowan Tree is set in beautiful countryside, well-known for golfing, fishing, hiking and riding. The hotel is 40 minutes’ drive from Inverness, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

This is a little gem of a hotel with a warm and homely feel.From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome

Pros: It is a delightful, small traditional family run hotel in a lovely location. We enjoyed sitting in the very comfortable snug lounge with a roaring log fire.

Cons: Room 6 was a little on the small size as was the E suite bathroom but adequate for our 2 night stay

Lovely Scottish hotel.

Pros: Bed was very comfortable and hotel lounge and bar were well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was great.

Lovely staff, cozy public areas and good food.

Pros: Room was nicely furnished and decent size. Noise carries between rooms. We had a loud family in the room above us which disturbed our peace. Public areas were cosy with open fires. Food was delicious. We had dinner and breakfast. Our breakfast order was wrong and was replaced with an order which was still partially wrong. We had waited for 40 minutes so just ate it. It was still tasty though. The hotel is set in a very pretty spot close to a Loch.

Cons: Bed room wasn’t as warm as I would have liked.

Lovely and comfortable, good food, and nice surroundings.

Pros: Room for comfortable and airy, great choices for breakfast, traditional cooked porridge and superb egg omelette both of which were excellent.

Cons: I had to park in a bit of an awkward spot overnight as car park was full. Car park entrance is close to a blind corner on a main road, so you have to be very careful when pulling out, especially when turning right to go South.

Great hotel delicious food amazing surroundings

Pros: The hotel was lovely area is fantastic restaurant food was delicious

Cons: I loved the hotel it was very cosy and in character all downstairs couldn't fault or even the stairs and halls in in character of the building and country feel but personal taste the bedroom furniture didn't fit with the feeling of the hotel but I can't fault the hotel it self staff were amazing food was 10/10 and around the hotel was lovely and peaceful woth plenty of lovely walks
