Glenisla Hotel

All good.

Pros: Communication beforehand was excellent. We had a very comfortable room with a bath as well as shower which suited both of us! The help yourself breakfast arrangement worked well. The (separately managed) restaurant and bar were delightful- cosy and a bit quirky. Staff were very friendly.

Clean, tidy and everything we needed for a night stay.

Small rural hotel in lovely location.

Pros: Stunning rural location, in traditional inn building. Bedrooms and bathrooms are modernised and comfortable. Small bar is quite busy with local people in the evenings, with good range of gins and gin liqueurs

Cons: Food options are a bit limited - a fresh fruit at breakfast is bananas or apples, and while instant porridge is provided, unsweetened versions of cereal are few. Evening menus are good quality but not many dishes.

Pros: Location, staff, facilities all very good. Evening meals excellent.

Cons: No served breakfast, DIY is order of the day, continental food.

Lovely homey hotel on the Cateran Trail

Pros: We really loved this hotel. It was cosy and welcoming after a wet day on the Cateran Trail, and loved how homey it felt with books on the landing and even helpful items to borrow in reception. The staff were all lovely and we had a delicious meal in the restaurant - the veggie lasagne was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Bit alternative but nonetheless great place to stay!

Pros: Slightly different approach than the usual hotels, involving guests to manage little things themselves (room key, waste, breakfast,…). Book dinner in advance if you want to eat there! Nice, casual place to stay. Pub attached.

lovely atmosphere - would go back again

Pros: Everything was very good - the hotel really catered for walkers/hikers but it was a lovely little gem in the middle of nowhere.

Nice night away

Pros: Nice quiet location. The room provided everything we needed. The team in the restaurant and bar were very friendly, and it was great to chat with other people during the quiz night. We also enjoyed the curries offered during the curry night.

Cons: There was nothing to complain about.

Pros: Excellent all-round. Everything was so well-thought through for a relaxing, comfortable stay. An excellent self service breakfast with a wide range of items, and the home cooked evening meal amazing too.
