The Bandstand

With stunning views over Nairn’s beach and the Moray Firth, this comfortable independent hotel offers a friendly welcome, an award-winning bar with a range of real ales, delicious locally sourced dishes and weekly live music. In the heart of Nairn, The Bandstand is a great base from which to visit the Highlands of Scotland. The charming traditional pub was once again named CAMRA Highlands and Islands’ Pub of the Year for 2025 (following wins in 2020, 2022 and 2024!) and is Cask Marque accredited – and its popular events such as the Bandstand Beer and Music Festival have been recognised by the Scottish Hospitality Awards. The hotel’s Sea View Restaurant offers fresh seafood, steaks and traditional Scottish cuisine, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options available. A cosy fire glows in the guest lounge over winter months, and come summer, the beer garden is the perfect place to soak up the sun. Dogs get a very special welcome in the bar with free biscuits, and can stay in the guest rooms on request. From traditional acts to rock bands and vinyl DJs, a fantastic variety of musicians provide regular entertainment, and it’s over to the local community every week for the Bandstand’s Sunday Session open mic night. Each en-suite guest room features bright and calming decor and is equipped to meet business and leisure needs. All rooms have free wifi, TVs, tea/coffee making facilities, and hairdryers, and most have sea views. A full, traditional cooked Scottish Breakfast is included in the price.

I enjoyed my short stay and will use the hotel on my next visit

Pros: The breakfast was tasty however the Lorne Sausage and the tattie scones were the smallest I ever seen , the room was clean and comfy and I had a good quiet nights sleep ,The view from the hotel over the beach to the see was nice , spoilt only by the aircon and heating ducts outside my room window .

Cons: Unfortunately, the weather was cold , damp and dark when I arrived, however it was sunny in the morning and the views looked lovely

Great one night stay.

Pros: Excellent breakfast, good choice. Comfortable bed. Good selection of beers in the bar.

Cons: Rooms were a bit small but fine for one night. Live music (on a Saturday night when I was there), was heard softly in one of our rooms, nothing in the other (finished at 11:30) so if you don’t like live music maybe ask before booking.

We loved the location, staff and breakfast in this Nairn pub/restaurant with rooms.

Pros: Perfect location for visiting Nairn, Moray and the Highlands. Friendly, helpful welcoming staff. Cosy, cheerful bar and a truly wonderful breakfast. Very relaxed atmosphere throughout.

Cons: Parking is on the street, which didn't prove a problem.

Great location, excellent staff and food.

Pros: Staff were excellent, polite, helpful and attentive. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Lovely view from the restaurant over the Moray Firth. It's a cosy wee place and was excellent for my 3 night stay.

Cons: The bathroom door in my room would not stay closed, so I was a bit anxious that the steam from the shower would activate the smoke alarm. That is a very minor complaint though. Everything else was good.

Excellent small hotel that we’d happily come back to!

Pros: View over the Links is beautiful. Bed very comfortable. Links Suite is lovely with an excellent bathroom and sitting area. Dinner was very tasty and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Breakfast could have done with some muesli and natural yoghurt. There was a baseball cap left down behind the sofa in the sitting room which suggests the cleaning could have been a bit more thorough. Shower in my elderly parents’ room was a bit temperamental.
