Coul House Hotel is set in the hills above Contin and offers scenic views and an award-winning restaurant. Located within 5 miles of Loch Achilty and Loch Ussie, this hotel is only 20 minutes' drive from Inverness. A very friendly independent hotel, well run with a very relaxed vibe and excellent food

Pros: Enjoyed the friendly staff and excellent food, the dogs everywhere and just a very relaxed vibe

Cons: nothing really. Room was a little small but absolutely didn't detract from the stay

Will come back definitely - a lot of guests we met had been here several times so that says it all.

Pros: We had a great room looking out over the garden and the mountains in the distance, bathroom was also big with underfloor heating. Bar area had an open fire and a wide selection of whiskies, food - both breakfast and dinner were also good. Able to walk around the grounds and wish we had more time to explore local walks.

Cons: Nothing - it was perfect.

Excellent but expensive.

Pros: Meals were excellent, and the room was as hoped. Enjoyed the hotel stay very much.

Cons: Having booked through Booking.com I incurred full price for the room and full price for the evening meals despite the stay being during the Wnter season stay deal at the hotel. That was very disappointing!

Pros: From arrival to departure it was a wonderful place to stay. Afternoon tea,evening meal were fantastic,cannot fault it will deffinately be a special occassion visit again.

Lovely and elegant hotel surrounded by the most beautiful woodland

Pros: The hotel offers high quality service. From the food, to the room and the friendly staff, everything was great. The location is great, the building is beautiful and surrounded by lush woodland. Autumn colours were in full display during our stay, which as a landscape photographer, that's what we were there for!

Cons: Not much to mention here. We are probably in the minority who arrive by public transportation, so going up the hill with luggage on a unpaved track was challenging. Other than that, our stay was perfect!

Pros: The food was amazing, and it's a beautiful, if isolated, area. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and the history of the hotel, told through a collection of annual update letters from the owner, was strangely engaging, but I couldn't stop reading!

Cons: A challenging location to enjoy on foot, plan to travel by car a bit to see the area.

Ideal place to stop on our way up north. This is our second time.

Pros: Beautiful setting tucked away from everything. Just so peaceful sitting on the terrace enjoying a cup of tea and later pre dinner drinks. Stuart and Susannah are absolutely wonderful hosts, nothing is too much for them or their staff.
