Gem of a B\u0026B in beautiful Ballater

Pros: Excellent accommodation at the Schoolhouse for our weekend in Ballater. Perfectly situated a short walk from the village centre, the accommodation offers clean, comfortable and spacious rooms and communal living spaces. A lovely garden with choices of seated areas provides a welcome rest after a days walking and sightseeing in the beautiful surrounding areas of Royal Deeside. Breakfast is delicious and sets you up well for the day's adventures. Thank you to our excellent host Cathy for the warmest of welcomes and looking after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back.

When your stay is a lovely as this you just don't want to go home.

Pros: The School house had great history and character, is located perfectly to explore Ballater and the room was clean and comfortable. Cathy, our host was so friendly and helpful and we loved having a chat with her. Breakfast entailed various choices including cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit and a cooked meal if wanted.

Cons: If only we were staying longer. We were only there for 2 nights but wish it was much longer. Ballater and the surrounding area of the Cairngorms is so nice and the Schoolhouse was a great base from which to explore.

Our hosts were extremely welcoming and our accommodation was most comfortable.

Pros: The location which is ideally situated contributed to a perfect weekend break in Ballater.

Pros: Location was great. Nice and quiet but still near the village centre. Breakfast was good and Cathy was flexible with making us porridge. Room was lovely and large. It was lovely to be able to sit outside the room on a small decking area. We also had use of an outside shed for bikes which was great. Cathy was a great host and was very helpful.

Cons: Bed was a bit soft for our liking and you sank into the middle. A change of mattress would fix this. We still slept well though.

Nice quiet central location for our itinerary.

Pros: The room was lovely. Shower was great. Breakfast was good. Parking on-site. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Cons: Bed was a bit firm and footboards made it feel short.
