Comfortable and cosy.

Pros: Our room was very clean and the bed super comfortable. It was a cold night but the room was very cosy. We had a drink at the bar- the staff were very friendly and attentive. Loved the gluten free options available at breakfast for my coeliac partner. I also enjoyed my breakfast. We stayed one night- it was a comfortable stay.

Cons: On arrival, we actually wondered if the hotel was open- the car park was badly iced over and the place looked quite deserted! Once we braved the path, the hotel was fine. I think shovelling or gritting the path would have made a significantly better impression and a less daunting walk to the door. The rooms are dated, in terms of decor. The shower was adequate but a bit lacklustre. The rooms could be much improved with a simpler style- less clashing patterns. It felt a wee bit stuck in the 1990s. But we couldn’t fault the helpfulness of the staff or the cleanliness of our room.

Relaxing, comfy and excellent

Pros: It’s a beautiful old building on the edge of town. Rooms spacious, grounds lovely, good spread for breakfast. The staff are all fantastic, really welcoming and accommodating. Great communication. Lovely food in the restaurant for dinner.

Cons: Our room needed a bit of painting which they’re planning to do over winter but it didn’t detract from a lovely stay or the character of the hotel.

Loved it and will be back

Pros: Returned and again had a fantastic stay. Friendly efficient staff, comfortable and welcoming surroundings, good food and good value overall.

Cons: Bed was two singles pushed together. A Kingsize would have been the icing on the cake.

One night but wished for more
