Pros: Fabulous stay at Smithy Cottage! Ideal for a family of 4. Very prompt and easy communication with hosts, everything was clean, the cottage is nicely and comfortably furnished. Kitchen is perfect for a self-sustained holiday, you find everything you need. And it´s care free thanks to the dishwasher. Completely quiet for a good night´s sleep, beautiful views at the green hills and a herd of deer just across. No midges! And, the heating is automatically put on mornings and evenings - which comes in handy even in the Summer, we found. A perfectly cosy place to relax. You need a car but it´s not a long drive from the hiking and biking spots around Ballater and Braemar.

Lovely quiet cottage

Pros: Lovely cottage in a quiet rural location. Very good amenities and spotlessly clean. The hosts (next door) were also very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend if you're looking to get away from it all.

Cosy cottage, ideal to visit the area

Pros: Splendid cottage, very cosy and comfortable for a family of four. Upstair area ideal for the children with two beds, downstairs includes a very well equipped kitchen, a nice linking area and a double bedroom. All the beds are amazing!

Surpassed expectations. Even the inclement weather didn’t dampen our enthusiasm

Pros: Superb location, spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable. Lots of little touches that made it so welcoming. All crockery and cutlery matched. Enough cooking implements to satisfy the most experienced cook. Great to have Bill and Mairi next door with their wealth of local knowledge and friendliness.

Cons: Nothing ( only that we had to leave it !!!)
