Would definitely go again!

Pros: Loved the location AND the lodge we stayed in was AMAZING!!!

Cons: Having to pay for electricity separately🫣 seems like the lodge is expensive as it is without cost of electricity on top.

Visit number 5 this year - that says it all!

Pros: This was our fourth or fifth stay this year and we were rather disappointed with the lodge allocated to us. It was a completely different layout to what we were used to and there was a strange odour. We returned to reception where they took onboard our reservations but informed us that they were fully booked for the night and couldn’t make changes at that time but could possibly rearrange the next day. We decided that we really didn’t want to stay the night and in our minds we were all set to travel home again. However, a quick call to housekeeping and a lovely, understanding lady came across, did some jiggling around and got us moved to a different lodge - which she said would be more akin to our previous lodges. When we walked into our lodge this time it felt like we were back at home again! From that moment on we had a fabulous stay once again.

Been staying at craigendarroch almost 40 years now and our kids love coming here too :)

Pros: Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms relatively modern. The whole lodge has a very homely feel and the kids love coming to stay there. Whole lodge was clean and kitchen well stocked with utensils, kitchen roll, etc.

Cons: Kitchen could do with being modernised a bit. New work tops at the very least. Reclining sofas would also be nice.

Relaxing, comfortable and easy to get into Ballater

Pros: Great location. Fully equipped \u0026 comfortable. Spa was lovely. Bar and food v good.,

Cons: No faults with the property. Felt the electric was a bit pricey and having to pay that when leaving was extra cost when it’s already quite expensive

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the lodges.

Pros: We liked the spaciousness of the lodge. And as two couples we appreciated the two en-suite bathrooms. We loved having the use of the facilities of the hotel, in particular the swimming pool and amenities. This whole area was very clean and modern. We enjoyed visiting Ballater, Braemar and Balmoral Castle during our stay. We parked up the car and either walked or took the bus for our days out and about.

Cons: The lodges are looking a bit dated. Unfortunately, the water pressure for the showers is very poor and this needs attention.

Good location and very comfortable stay

Pros: Great location. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Very comfortable beds. Loads of towels. Well equipped kitchen. Spacious. Good size bathrooms.

Cons: A meter in the property to monitor electricity use would have been good, since being charged for use. The furniture was quite dated. The main bathroom had a musty smell. The tennis court needs a better surface to be able to have a decent game. No sound proofing between floors. Anyone in bedrooms (downstairs) could hear every footstep in living space above. Photos on booking.com suggested lodges were all detached - they aren’t.

Pros: The grounds and lodge were fabulous, set in beautiful scenery and nature. We stayed in a two bedroom lodge which was more than ample in size. The lodge was absolutely spotless and I'm ocd with cleanliness. Bathrooms and bedrooms were modern like new. The upstairs living areas were great, they could maybe do with a little modernisation but that's being very picky. The living areas were very clean well kept no damage/scuffs etc. Lodge was very well equipped with everything you may need. The hotel was lovely with lots to do. Pool area was amazing, again very modern and very clean. Changing areas were great with everything you need. The village was only 20 min comfortable walk with the most gorgeous scenery, quicker if I didn't take so many pictures. The village is beautiful with nice, cafes, shops and a couple of bars.

Cons: The spa was unavailable at the weekends which is extremely disappointing and why I wouldn't give full marks. We were a group of 5, 4 of which wanting treatments so on us alone they lost £400+ worth of treatments. Check out for the lodge was 10am which i feel is too early. For a hotel room this is fine when only packing a bag but a lodge where there are more people and packing of home items such as toys, food, and essentials its a bit tight even 11am would have been a lot more helpful. Additionally paying for electricity on top of your stay is something you need to take into consideration and prepare for. The hotel can't tell you how much till after you have left so your card just gets billed without you knowing how much for.
