Balmoral Arms

We had a lovely, peaceful and relaxing time in Ballater at the Balmoral Arms.

Pros: We did not have breakfast for dinner there, but we did have drinks in their little lounge. It was lovely - we sat with drinks and played chess for hours. The fire is lit in the evening which was lovely. Fiona on reception was a highlight of our stay, she was so lovely and attentive.

Cons: There wasn't a fridge in the room which we would have appreciate for drinks and snacks that we brought, but it wasn't a huge inconvenience at all. They did provide us with an ice bucket so this was great.

Stayed at the hotel for the skiing at Glenshee. Very comfortable to return to in the evenings, good

Pros: Bar and lounge ambience, fireplace, cosy Scottish decor. Well situated for town ammenities

Cons: Emptying the rubbish bins round the back a bit early

Pros: We were welcomed at the hotel entrance in the most professional and friendly manner the team at Balmoral Arms so friendly and helpful The room was beautiful and cozy with the most comfortable beds In the restaurant, the service was first class and the food really was unbelievable Definitely recommend breakfast On our exit, everything was swift and easy We will definitely be returning to this fabulous hotel

Pros: Staff were excellent, hotel good and very central in ballater, room very clean

An authentically Scottish, friendly stay in a beautiful hotel.

Pros: The decor was beautiful and traditional. Our room was well appointed and we had a great night’s sleep as it was so peaceful. The music playing in the lounge gave it a really traditional feel. The staff were authentically helpful and friendly. The location was ideal, a few minutes walk to local amenities in Ballater. We loved our stay and were sorry to leave.

Pros: Staff were fantastic, had a lovely time in the bar and restaurant, room was comfortable

Pros: Such a friendly welcoming hotel. We were made welcome from the minute we walked through the door. Lovely mini break in beautiful surroundings

Pros: Friendly helpful staff on reception. Warm, cosy room. Dog friendly room.

Cons: No way to reduce temperature of radiator (remote thermostat didn't work). It was either on or off

Fabulous hotel in the highlands

Pros: Lovely hotel, in idyllic village. Staff are great and the food delicious. Breakfasts are fabulous. After a bracing hike, wonderful to come back to the hotel and enjoy a drink by the fire.
