Druim An Lochain Cottage

Perfect place to base ourselves for a few days - very comfortable to stay ‘home’ and relax too.

Pros: Welcoming and homely. Also warm ! Even June in Scotland can be chilly so lovely to walk in to a warm cottage. We loved the hot tub!

Cons: Tbh only very small personal preferences .. firmer mattresses and perhaps wider single beds 🤔

Pros: Cottage was clean and comfortable, rooms were spacious. Setting was peaceful despite being in close proximity to farm. Small garden area with hot tub and outdoor furniture. Aga was great in chilly mornings but a little overbearing when we returned later as weather was exceptionally good for Scotland ( so won't moan about that). Hosts friendly and helpful. Location perfect for Cairngorm and surrounding beauty.

Cons: Lovely views around the property but unfortunately none could be seen from the building itself. Otherwise great.

Simply stunning

Pros: Absolutely lovely cottage in stunning surroundings. Can’t fault it at all. Hosts were brilliant. So peaceful I’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it. Highly recommended.

Very nice stay in a great location

Pros: Great size cottage for a getaway, very friendly hosts, and excellent location to get to the Cairngorms, Inverness, Aviemore, Dalwhinnie, and nice shower, great kitchen

Cons: Beds were not supportive for us and disturbed our sleep significantly. This is not uncommon for us at most UK accommodations apart from Premier Inns. Coffee table fell apart and needs replacing as the veneered surface was ruined probably from the heat of the Aga (note: we managed the Aga heat by opening a few windows).

Lovely stay at the farm

Pros: Nice and clean cottage. Holiday cooking on the Aga was less of a challenge than I imagined. Nice hosts and a wonderful farm with happy farm animals.

Very nice cottage and great location

Pros: The location of the cottage is really nice, on a farm some km south of Aviemore. The cottage is very clean and spacious. Facilities excellent.

Cons: The oven in the kitchen needs to be kept permanently on. This unfortunately leads to a constant high room temperature in the living room. Certainly no big deal during fall/winter/spring, but a bit uncomfortable in summer.

Heart of the Cairngorms, brilliant stay and superb facilities.

Pros: Great location for exploring Aviemore and Cairngorms. Plenty of space, large bedrooms and great living room and kitchen. Immaculate and great set up for walking. Dog friendly.

Pros: We spent 3 nights in this cottage and had a wonderful experience. The house was neat and situated in a beautiful, peaceful location. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome, and the children were thrilled to be near the farm animals. Waking up every morning to the sound of birds and the occasional distant bleat of a sheep added a delightful touch to our stay.

Great nature stay

Pros: Great location in the middle of unique nature, perfect cottage (everything you could need and more, clean and tidy), and warm welcome from the hosts.

Cons: Somewhat tricky to drive to for someone used to larger roads.

Climbed Ben Macdui, explored Rothiemurchus, plus retail therapy in Aviemore. What’s not to like!

Pros: Perfect farm base for exploring the western Cairngorms
