Lovely!

Pros: The view from the living room and bedroom is amazing. Lovely walk down into Helmsdale. The cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owner, who lives in the adjoining property, was helpful but unobtrusive. Milk, whiskey ant biscuits were a nice touch and appreciated. It’s a lovely place for peace and quiet.

Cons: There are signs all over the cottage telling you how to use things, what not to do and possible consequences if you cause damage doing something contrary to the instructions. I understand the need for this but feel it could all be put in a folder as this would be a little more friendly. Two of the double wardrobes were chained shut - there is enough storage and hanging space without them but the chains seemed a bit OTT - maybe a key lock or something similar might be nicer. Just observations as we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend The Stroops.

A Croft with an amazing view.

Pros: Ruth was very welcoming on our arrival. I messaged before arriving and she was there waiting for us . The house was immaculate with a fabulous view and Ruth treated us to a dram of whisky and Scottish shortbread. A lovely touch! The area is a great place to explore as part of the NC 500.

The peaceful gem

Pros: My partner and I booked the evening before, just to go away couple of days..our expectations have been totally exceeded, the Stroops is an hidden gem where you can relax and reconnect to yourself.. Ruth is an amazing host and lady, the house is extremely clean and the view..the view is stunning, the more you look at it and the more you fall in love with the place. Instructions are clear, kitchen is well equipped and the only things you hear are the wind, the sea and birds. We will be back, thank you so much for the experience, it was much needed!
